so.... Yea.... This might actually be the cause (or related) to my problem.

I can't get into download mode. This seems like a legit hardware issue... As opposed to me being the issue. I tried all the variations I could think of (volume down+power, volume down+home+power, volume up+power, volume up+home+power...).

I even watched a video of what to do, and what the phone SHOULD do (on a side note, that android with the shovel is pretty clever).

If that's the case I'll return my phone and get a replacement... Maybe I'll have more support with the THAT one Big Smile

Please look at this

I am happy you fixed the problem.

But as Casz said I have never seen that, the only way I think that is possible is if the cable was damaged or Proprietary designed specifically for another device, so it would charge but not connect (Which is doubtful).

P.S. What about your brother's phone?

Peace.

OK I am having a similar but slightly different problem. Also on Rogers.

I can't get my phone to connect to my computer though it previously has in the past. When I plug it in, I get to the selection screen (external drive, firmware upgrade, media player) but no matter what I select my computer doesn't seem to recognize the phone in either Device Manager or Kies.

A bit of history: my phone had some hardware issues and had to be sent to Rogers for repair. When I got it back I was trying to upgrade the firmware and it crashed mid process. Since then I have been unable to connect. Instructions from Kies say to start in recovery mode but when I do, Kies can't find the phone.

I have tried restarting both the device and my computer multiple times. I have tried multiple USB slots. I have also tried other devices in the USB slots and there are no errors. I only have one cable but I have connected other devices using the cable and there are no issues. I have tried connecting in every mode I can (recovery, firmware, external drive) but no luck.

Any suggestions?

OK, so my computer is a little old (around 5 years, still running XP) but I have now also tried using a different cable on a different computer (under 1 year, running Windows 7), still the same problem.

Any suggestions?
