Best GPS App for No-Data Prepaid (T-Mobile)????

I have a Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) linked to a T-Mobile prepaid "Pay-as-you-Go" plan where data access isn't offered.  Wi-fi on my phone is, of course, also useless while on the road.

1.)  Are there any good GPS app options (free or paid) that my phone can access when I need directions in a pinch?

2.)  Would such an app give me directions in "real time" (is this even possible without a data plan?) or just simple text directions from point A to B?...
