I keep getting the message:

"The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again."

This message keeps popping up while I am in the middle of other things in my phone (texting, gaming, calling, etc...) and it is so annoying.  It is like it is trying to sync with my outlook account but can't reach it so it gives me this error.  The annoying part is that it wont let me into the email program to change any settings or even delete my email account.  Someone please help because this is so annoying, it freezes my phone for a couple of seconds and makes it so hard to use.

I am honestly regretting buying this phone right now.  It has not been a very pleasant experience thus far.

Thank you.

Hi !

Am I the only one experiencing serious issues with Email 2.2 after updating to Froyo 2.2 ?

Symtoms:-
1. Email application runs extremely slow after update to 2.2
2. I can download emails but when I try to open it, it returns "Sorry! The application Email (process com.andriod.email) has stopped unexpectly. Please try again." I had to force close. I have tried deleting and recreating email accounts numerously times but problem still persists. My email accounts worked flawlessly before with 2.1 before update !

Other than that, all other apps works great after 2.2 update, including Skype which is now working for my SGS!

But I need to fix my Email issues soon ... any suggestions/ help or if anyone can share similar experiences would be great.

johnnyhammer,

What version of Android are you running? 2.1 or 2.2?

Reason I ask, this problem only happened to me after I upgraded to 2.2. Email worked flawlessly before the updgrade.

I am trying to establish whether this issue is specific to 2.2 or not. Right now, I am very frustrated with this phone as email access to my work exchange server is critical for me.

Anyone else with similar experience please chime in.

Thanks !

 Crying
I have had my samsung galaxy s for 77 LONG SUFFERING DAYS.  I hate the thing.  I wish I could chuck it against the wall.

It is always freezing me out up to 3 times a day.  Reloaded to defaults...it has frozen on the main screen and just shuts off for no reason.  Have to remove the battery and put it back in.

Now, my exchange email is not syncing for whatever reason.  I deleted the whole flipping account and tried to set it up again and I cannot connect.  The internet works, gmail works, messaging works, but I can't connect to add another email account.

Advice would be greatly appreciated before I throw it into the ocean and jump in after it.
Thanks!

Linxey, why did you not return it within the 15 day window? It really sounds like you have a hardware problem.

I have the same email-app problems AFTER updating to 2.2. On 2.1 my email app worked flawless!
But is seems also to affect my CALENDER app which is linked to the same account I use in the email app. It is very unstable and I have problems accessing my account settings and calender items related to this account.

I'm on Bell..I have been back a few times.  Unfortunately, the problems didn't start until the end of the return period.  I should have gone with the cheap phone.  I have had to reset to the default settings twice...It's going to be a long 3 years.

Thanks everyone.

Do the Iphone have this many problems? Crying

I'm on Bell and haven't had to reset. Most likely a similar percentage of people have iPhone problems but I don't know. I would add an app a day to see how it works out to see what's causing the problem.

Yep same issue - e-mail and calendar were both working beautifully until I updated to Froyo (2.2), since then the calendar and e-mail have been constantly crashing, where the phone vibrates causing the entire phone to become less responsive. E-mail freezes out on a blank screen. I noticed the problem seems worse when I get a new e-mail notification and I try clicking through to it from the notification area...

When I performed the Froyo upgrade I just let Kies worry about it and updated with all my accounts and settings already there, so I thought a solution might be to perform a hard reset and just reconnect my Exchange account from scratch. That seemed to work for a few hours but I'm now back in the same messy situation.

Help anyone? This seems to be a widespread issue, should we expect an update from Samsung or should I start looking for new Exchange clients?

Even I am facing the same problem after upgrading to 2.2. Does anyone aware on how to resolve this issue.

Every time I open the email it gets hanged and killed after few seconds. Calendar also has the same problem.

Hello all,
I am experiencing the same issue in that the phone hangs and the request to force restart or close appears. Naturally the freeze occurs at the worst time.  Eyes Rolling
Did anyone come up with a solution for this problem?
I have a GT-I9000, running 2.2, with Froyo.HVJP4 build
