Hi, I had this phone for over 3 months and I was very satisfied with the battery usage, lasting 2 days with moderate usage for me. Unfortunately, a few days ago (let's say 2 weeks) I noticed the battery draining VERY fast, at first I thought It was the back-up battery I bought cheap off ebay fr like 5$, but even the OEM one does that. Well, I didn't mind and kept chargin it, using it for a few hours and charging it again, kind of annoying if you ask me... But then I noticed something, I looked at the battery usage, and normally the display is at the very top of the battery usage at about 60-80 %, depending on wallpapers, brightness etc, but now it's actually second at about 15-30%, where standby takes (right now) 61%!!!! Wow, is that a bug or something, I don't even have an app left open in the task manager, is it really reporting the right battery usage? Well I think it does because the battery really doesn't last as long as before. The thing is, I can't remember exactly if I changed any settings or anything, but I clearly remember that it's not supposed to be that high, like what, 3 times the power usage of the display, in standby? Anybody else had this problem, any inputs would be appreciated, I really like this phone, and I'd hate having to change it because of that...

I'm not sure... But I recall doing a firmware or software idk update via samsung kies a few weeks ago, as well as installing launchepro for my home, but that shouldn't cause a problem right? Thanks a bunch!

Check your CPU usage with the free Android System Info app. It's the 3rd tab Tasks, of course Android System Info will use some CPU, as will Android System. It's the others you should watch out for. Maybe some software app you installed is doing a lot of CPU cycles in the background as a service (hence, it's not visible  in the default Task Manager, nor in apps like Advanced Task Killer)

Without providing any kind of information, it's hard for anyone to provide you with any help. As described in my previous message, find out what the CPU usage is.
If you have Android 2.3.3, you can use the Battery Usage information (Settings > About phone > Battery use), keep watching it over a few hours, and just before the battery dies, write down everything you see.

Hi, kimputer, thanks for your reply it's appreciated. I think I found out what was draining my battery and for reference to others with the same issue, I corrected it by accessing:  Applications/Settings/Accounts and sync. From there I noticed that the Background data box was ticked! I don't remember doing this but must have done so by accident. I unchecked the box and the battery never lost any charge throughout the night. So it looks as though everything is back to normal, I will keep you updated if things revert back to battery drain again.

Thanks

Paul
