I recently upgraded the firmware to 2.1 update1 (Eclair.DXJG4). I am in Singapore.

After upgrading to the firmware JG4, I noticed some bizarre things as follows:

1. I don't see 2G/3G option. Hence, my 3G is always running, draining battery, and incurring data charges.

2. Battery charge indication has been changed not to show yellow or red, instead, it pops up, I need to connect to the charging when the indication shows half. After few moments, it doesn't permit me to operate my  camera, video player, and other host of applications by popping "battery low". Without a red sign in the battery, the phone suddenly goes off. That's it. You need to look for a plug point. Either you carry a spare battery, or solar or car charger with you always. To fix this, Samsung might give us a car charger+spare battery+charger holder, as free of cost. and We will recommend others not to buy Samsung Galaxy S until they fix their battery issue.

One thing is for sure, the developers in Samsung are crazy. They do not know what they are doing.

Hey,  Thank you for the info.  Why did they change the easy to understand schema to a technical jargon.

Still, I face a serious battery drainage problem. It hardly lasts for half-a-day. Fully charged phone in the night, lasts only upto 1.30 pm. Then I need to charge it for more than an hour in the afternoon, then it will last until 10 pm.

I am going to complain about the battery issue in the support center.

have u check the drop down if the wifi is off...mostly it's the cause.

download Mysettings app for easy monitoring of wifi, gsm, gps, brightness etc. if u set it right, overnight drainage is only 4%.
