samfirmware.com have a range of stock firmwares to download,  just choose the latest firmware for your region.

they usually cover a number countries,  I'm in the uk,  so I use the European version.  The phone automatically selects the CSC for UK (although if the wrong one is chosen,  you can change this after flashing)

No probs.  There is a few unofficial ports of ICS.  I've tried Onecosmic's which worked pretty good,  if a bit slow.  But many have had much better experiences.

There's a lot of info in the thread,  but definitely worth reading for installation instructions, and for an idea of what could go wrong so you know the risks (and fixes).

Thanks for that Cook.

I might try ICS over the weekend.
Im really looking for a solution that i wont have to worry about too much, dont really want to be doing a re-install every few weeks.
Do you know any difference between Onecosmic and MyICS RC 2.1.10 by MyUI  that is also on XDA.

i will probably be giving it a go tomorrow.

cheers

A new version has been released today, not tried it myself yet.  TBH from what I've seen results have varied from person to person,  for some its problem free,  others have had installation issues.

I'm not 100% but think that myics is only an ICS user interface and not a rom so it only gives your phone the ICS look.

Glad it's working for you,  from a note posted by one of the devs working on it they think they might have caused stability issues with their latest changes,  so it's a bit hit n miss.

But it's still an excellent job they've done, still not sure whether to try this or wait for the next release. safer to wait....but no fun to wait Crying lol
