Google officially released their app for Google Reader in the android market. It's simple and very much like the webapp of Google reader.. give it a try

Yes, Google Reader is a convenient application better than using the web page.

How to setup the update frequency? I am using Rss websites links so a daily update is enough. It seems much more frequent and i am worried on battery life impact. I couldn't find any options in Google reader or settings options to change the frequency.

Thanks,

Regis

Well there's no such option in the app to control the update frequency. But there's an app in the market that could help you..

Follow these steps:

-Go to the market and download  "Synker beta - The Sync Widget" android app
[Read review of the app at the following link http://goo.gl/O6099]

-Now go to the homescreen and add the app's widget "Synker"

-After adding settings screen will appear and all your synced accounts will be shown there. By default all are selected. So you'd need to de-select all other accounts except the "Google Reader"

-And under the Widget Label field give any name like "Sync gReader"

-Click Save

Now every time you want to sync Google Reader.. just tap on the widget

To switch off auto sync for google reader go to settings>Accounts and Sync>Select Account> de-select "Sync Google Reader"

Hope it helps Happy

I've got Go Launcher and find it very smooth and quick to use.

But one thing I hate about any new launcher application is that what were widgets with the default launcher, are now just icons to be placed on the desktop?

Such as the Daily Briefing App, it is no longer a widget but instead just an icon.

Aswell as the inbuilt battery usage / task killer widget, I can't even find it with Go Launcher.

I would stay with custom launchers if they supported the built in widgets.

Yeah there ain't any hack for getting Samsung widgets to work on other launchers also.

Hope somebody is working at XDA Wink Wink

Thanks for the answers.

I finally removed the automatic update of Google Reader.
As I have 100 RSS fields, it could take up to 5 minutes.
If I am checking Corporate email at same time, emails functions are blocked until the Google Update is finished!

I now do it manually once a day when I am not checking email
