A very good day to all,

I was wondering, is there any way we could configure our SGS to be a PC web cam?

Or is there an application for it?

It would be great if this could be done.

I'm aware that there are applications to set our phone to be a spy webcam, but my intention is to use the phone as a web cam for chatting, not for monitoring.

thanks..

DroidCam works (tested), but you need to have it in your local WLAN and the used port(s) must be opened from your router and/or software firewall.

Kindest,

Mc

Could be that I did wrongly during the setup part, I shall retry with the setup.

By the way, mcgangsta, since you managed to tested it,

1) does it use the front or back camera when in web cam mode?
2) when in web cam mode, are we still able to use our phone as per normal? eg, receiving or
    making calls, texting, etc..

Hi,

I havent tested it so long that I would have received a call... But, I believe Market tells you what Droidcam is able to handle...

It uses the back camera.

Hi all,

I got the app DroidCam from android market and it is
working nicely from my SGS running android 2.1 (Eclair) with a
PC running Linux (Fedora Core 13 i686) using the PC client supplied at the app developer's
web page http://www.dev47apps.com/

Have used it successfully with skype and a webcam application on the PC (Cheese Webcam Booth)

Pay attention to routing, firewall when troubleshooting if it does not work for you..

Cheers
Srinivas
