I believe each country get a region specific set of applications that cannot be removed the usual way.... Any advice on how I can go about it?

I am utterly not techie so I'll take all the help I can get!

Thanks in advance!

You'll have to root your phone, download SGS Tools app, and manually delete the apps that you don't want. But be sure you know what you're deleting and not randomly delete any app.

Is your phone running eclair (2.1) or froyo (2.2)?

My question is why did you buy this phone if you're not techy? The Samsung apps enhance the android experience and the carrier apps don't have to be used or even viewed if you change the launcher.

Try the search or check the how to thread before asking a question.

With sgs Tools app you cant delete apps like the defaul sms app and ThinkFreeOffice (min is rooted with Z4root)

What's the default sm app? Yeah, there are some apps that you can't delete, like Google Talk. But at least it helps you get rid of the bloatware that your carriers preinstalls on your phone.

I thought I would have to root for my phone to do this, but I was hoping I didn't need to and there was some other way.... Thanks, you all! :-)

Yes Lagicity, it's the bloatware as you call it that I really want to get rid of- Its running Froyo so I'll check out how to root it in the other threads.

Gasolin, Kuwaits put apps like Qiblah direction, the Holy Quran and prayer times  Angel

Casz, circumstances really. If I can't get rid of the carrier apps , I'd live with it but I would like to try. I need to find a "tweak samsung galaxy s for dummies", I'm sure its out there... but in the mean time I'll stalk forums such as these and await the advice of the nice patient people on here  Smile
