From Rumor to Official in no time the Super Clear LCD packing Samsung I9003 will be called Galaxy SL. It turns out that the display is not the only change, there are some changes under the hood as well. The Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL has a 4-inch WVGA Super Clear LCD display instead of a SuperAMOLED unit.

Why do that.

Gave it a worse of processor, and then a worse Screen, but improved the RAM.

I think it is a battery Issue, They increased the battery size to 1650 Ah.

SLCD seems more power hungry. I guess this is because SAMOLED is more expensive to make.

TI OMAP is old, this phone looks like it's cheaper to make, and is not a step up from the I9000, I would say it's a step down.

Peace.

did i read recently of a rumour that Samsung had sold a lot of it's future S.Amoled production to iPhone?  If true could this explain the screen downgrade on what should be a phone upgrade?

though why on earth Samsung would sell it's screens to Apple is a question i couldn't find an answer to, so made me doubt it

Samsung on it's own does not reach any where near the sales that apple's Iphone reaches.

it is a smart Choice IMO, but one which will be paid by it's android Users.

I doubt it though, they wouldn't sell all of their production.

Maybe be keep it exclusive with Samsung and Apple.

Peace.

Haha, the only bad thing about this is that its mid-range nature'll make all other Galaxy S users look bad. Just joking Wink Wink

By the way, I think this is already pretty well-known by now, but AMOLED displays a actually gonna be a surplus this year. I can't really tell whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, though.

On a side note, the 1650 mAh battery on the Galaxy SL is apparently the same size as the 1500 mAh battery on the Galaxy S.
... Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking? XD

ALRIGHT, first post.

There are two hardware variants.
The i9100 and the i9103.
The i9100 will use their in house CPU/GPU SoC with the SAMOLED+ display.
The i9103 will use nVidias Tegra 2 SoC (which is excellent), with a SLCD display.
The i9100 will be released in the UK and North America.
The i9103 will be released everywhere else.
In theory.

And as for "why would samsung ever sell something to apple?"
Take a look at who makes the memory and processors for the past iPhones/iPods. All samsung.
And who makes the display? LG, I believe...
Apple doesn't actually MAKE anything. They just get other peoples stuff and glue it together. Sticking out tongue

BUT people buy their aluminum cased stuff cause it's trendy and hip and whatnot, at a price premium no less! And in a way it's good, since the companies that make our real big boy products receive money in large amounts no matter what. Happy

Anyways, unless you live in an undesirable part of the world, we'll all likely be rocking out with our 4.3 inch SAMOLED+ display, dual core, thinnest phone ever in a while. Me later than some, as I am in Canada. Embarrased
