Hate to tell you, but Samsung is right. Roger sold you the phone, so they must provide to you the services.
On the other hand, Roger is not wrong either. They're willing to loan you a phone and of course, it not necessary to be the same made and model. Any carrier will not be able to reserve all models for loan. Unless stated in your warranty/agreement that you'll get the same.

Regarding your keyboard. You did not mentioned which keyboard you're using, so I'll just take my preferred "Swype" as an example.
Open your keyboard and tap on the language key (
the one with a globe logo and the language initial).....

Until it shows [
EN].....

Or long press on it and select
English (
or any other languages that suits you) as your keyboard language.....

For Samsung Keyboard, goto [
Settings] > [
Locale and text] > [
Samsung keypad] > [
Input languages] and check on
English or/and any other languages that you want.
Then open your keyboard and swipe on the space-bar to change the language.
Should also be the same with any other (
3rd party) keyboards.
To minimize freezing or force close, try clearing the memory from
Task manager every couple of days.
