Hi everyone!! First post here.. Happy

I had been browsing for stylus pen on ebay.

Reading the specs for these pen has raised a lot of questions for me.

First of all, I have the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate from Rogers.. so my model # is SGH-i896

The pen I really want to get is this:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170570848482&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

But it saids its for i9000 .. I have no idea of other Samsung models, can anyone tell me if this pen will work for me?

And I have seen the series "i900" does my phone belong to this series??
I am so clueless... somebody please fill me in !

i900 is Omnia, a Windows Mobile device.

i9000 is the International version of Galaxy S series running Android.

I don't think any stylus will work for our devices. Try touching the screen with your fingernail.

Hi Everyone- I'm new here too and to the Galaxy as well.
I have my Galaxy for a week now and am also looking for a solution for the keyboard.
I have tried my nail and no, I do not have acrylic nails (I'm female), at the moment but even with my own long nails it did not work.
I was told that the touch screen is heat activated.

BTW I live outside of the USA and my model is Galaxy S GT-I9000

I'm going to try the stylus from the Iphone- if it works I'll come back to report! Wink Wink
If anybody is having a problem with the Calendar I have found a great reminder program...
Feel free to contact me at:

Have a great day-

I second the motion! SGS have capacitive touch screen which only works with static electricity from your fingers (something like that)

You can use a stylus, it just has to be for a capacitive screen. They do not work well but some people like them. Some of the new tablets are even shipping with them.

I experimented a bit, but it's not so technical one. First i tried using the stylus from my old samsung omnia to my galaxy s captivate. it did'nt work, next i tried using a pen like stylus that was being used in magnetic sketchboard then stylus from a Nintendo DS, a piece of round pointed metal with a plastic handle(it's not like i want to scratch my screen but it's not that pointed), a piece of pointy rubber and a piece of toothpick like wood. None of them worked. But when i tried a round metal key chain holder(the round metal not the key and the chain), while holding it, it suddenly made me write in the screen. I think the bottomline is that, the screen somehow transmit static energy to our finger as i know our hand is a good conductor too. so i tried it again without touching the metal with my finger skin, it did'nt make any writings at all. conclusion: i think the screen is a static responsive screen thats why our fingers can only write on it and do the touching operation. Please correct me if i'm wrong, i'll be glad to have another opinion for clarity. Thanks though this is a very late response. Cheers to all readers. V*_*V

I bought the stylus as a backup in case my fingers did not work well with the keyboard and I was familiar with a stylus from my palm pilot days. I will keep for backup. The pen works OK, seem to be made of aluminum and is small enough to fit in yor pocket.
