Europe users, just find and buy this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B004395LWG/ref=ox_ya_os_product

No more bat problems, i hope. I just order one, so if you wait some days, i will post the performance. It looks a quality product.

Wow thats one Fat Battery!  Not my cup of T i'm afraid.  It makes the phone waay too chunky.

May check out the Samsung Official offering when it's available but probably just stick to my Monkey.

How long it will take to charge this monster? I heard that it takes adages!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I had to choose i'd go for the two batteries and charger, but that's just my opinion lol

Both the unofficial and official extended batteries look way too chunky for me to be honest.  No, I rather just have my normal phone+battery and carry an extra battery with me.  Think I'm gonna order a couple of them from ebay.

The batteries do hold their charge so it's not a big deal to carry an extra.

Well, I received my 3000mah bat, and I charged thought the night, and I must say... I’m trying hard to deplete it, is amazing Happy I think that the comfort of not switching bat, open cover, close cover (and the covers weren´t made to be opened so often, after a year...) well, for a 5 or 6 mm fattest phone is a good deal, no doubt about it, in my opinion of course. The original cover is much more beauty... very much, in this particular product. One curious thing the phone, in the app zdevice test, detects a 4000mah (actually more 41.., now with 37% left is in 3780, the settings display a 37% left too), I don´t know if with the previous bat were a any difference, or if this is a sensor problem...  Or if is usual to have this differences.
I didn´t had overheating, nothing to complain, just lost off energy. The bat isn´t heavy either.
I didn´t have the hole day to play with it, but some 5 – 6 hours of you tube videos, over a wi-fi connection I have for sure.
Additional updates to the report soon!

Anyone using the extended battery?  How much more time do you get on it compared to the standard battery?

The 3000 mA battery looks way too big for me, bought the SGS cos it was so light and flat.

Anyway, decided to take the gamble and ordered some batteries from a company in Hong Kong through eBay.  Wasn't expecting much, but it was only £8.45 with free P&P for a pack that was supposed to include:

1 x USB Wall Battery Charger (US Standard)
1 x UK Standard Plug Adapter
  1 x USB Hotsync & Charger Cable
  2 x Spare Battery (1500mAh)
  3 x Free Screen Protector

To my surprise the pack arrived only 5 days after I ordered it.  And it actually came with a EU plug adapter, not the UK one.  I had only stumbled upon the UK ad, and was gonna get myself a EU adapter, but the smart people in Hong Kong had decided I ordered from Holland so I needed an EU adapter.  Well done!   The charger is a dual charger as that it can charge a spare battery while at the same time charging your phone through the USB cable.  Very neat.  And even the screen protectors each came with a separate cloth to wipe the screen.

Anyway, using one of the batteries now, and it's working just fine, temperature is fine (29.0 as we speak*), so no complaints yet.  Will let you know if there's anything wrong with them.  At least now I can have a spare battery in my jacket and another in my bag, and never be out of juice.

*By the way, not sure if everybody is aware of the secret menu.  Go to the phone keypad and type

  *#*#4636#*#*

and you get to a hidden menu, with all kinds of stats, mostly about the battery.  Anyone know any other secret codes like this?

I use SGS Tools from market. It`s for rooted phones but is updated with the secret codes that works for everyone. There are at least 30 in there.

I havent really had an issue with my battery, i'm implamenting a few power saving options such as

I only turn on data when I need it
I have my network set to GSM only turn on WCDMA when needed
Screen brightness set to Auto

I get about a day and a half out of my 1500mAh battery, however I would like a battery that lasts longer. I found this "business battery" on ebay, can anyone let me know if they have tested this battery please?

Nice, will try.
I was weighing up getting a spare battery and charger dock then decided of £10 more I would go for a Power Monkey V2.  It charges my Galaxy S, powers 2 sets of speakers (Power Traveller & X Mini), my camera and my BF's Nokia (not all at the same time btw).  It charges from the mains or USB in 3-6 hours, then you plug it into the phone etc using one of the interchangeable attachments.  I have found it cheaper than buying chargers/leads for all my electricals and easier to carry (about 3 inches long)

It was great on the plane as I was watching movies and could charge me phone when it was getting low (I could still watch the movies too)

Just a thought as an alternative to a separate battery

I got the chunky battery, I'm quite happy even though everyone says my phone's too fat now. Never mind I need power, not style.

Just surfing around and found this. I don't know how safe it is. But I thought it was worth mentioning.

Since the Battery is bigger they also provide a backplate. Looks pretty cool, it may also add some weight into this phone, cause currently it's a little too light for me.

I think that's been mentioned before but looking at that back, I wonder if it's grippier since it doesn't look shiny.
