Okay, I really can't believe information on this is so hard to find...

So I have a Galaxy S GTI9000M on an unlimited data plan. I can't really be bothered with having mp3's on my phone, because well...I stream it instead. I would LOVE to stream it to my car stereo though...

Has anyone had any luck with a bluetooth device that streams the audio stream through an fm transmitter? I've found a few things on the internet but I really just don't know what I should be looking for - the majority of the players seem to be made for ipod/iphone, where you actually dock the phone...but I don't really need that. I have a cigarette lighter dual socket extender for my galaxy s car charger, so a dock isn't really necessary.

Thoughts, ideas?

I've not done it, but let us try this.....

After you've paired and connected your devices, goto [Settings] > [Wireless and network] > [Bluetooth settings].

Long press on the connected device...

Select [Options]...

And check/mark [Media]...

As I'd mentioned, I had not tried it, so a feedback of whether this method is working or not, is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hey, right on! Thanks for that - I bought something on Ebay so I guess I'll let you know how I make out when it gets shipped.

Has anyone else tried these devices?

Ok I got music now through the BlueTooth, at first I had no place that showed the media box as in the screen shots that you provided on here, What I had to do was uninstall my BlueTooth then reinstall it now the media box is there. Thank you for the assistance.

How did you get the Bluetooth to uninstall & the Media option to come up? I am having the same problem as you so it seems but can't work out what you meant by uninstalling the Bluetooth??

I was reading your posts and was wondering what device you bought to do this.  I am looking for the exact same thing and cant seem to find anything.  Is it just a normal blue tooth transmitter?

Thanks

I successfully paired the phone to the car stereo but I do not have the option to tick Media under the Options list as per the instructions on the forum. Can anyone advise on how to get this option.
Thanks in advance

To clarify, unpair the headset, turn it off and reboot your phone.  then when you re-pair the headset it should give you both 'Phone' and 'Media' checkboxes

What is the fm transmitter ?? HUH?

its a transmitter which you connect to the connector or the minijack of your smartphone, afterwards it converts your music to a specific FM channel.  f.e. 96.3FM  then you just switch over your cars radio to 96.3FM and you will hear what is playing on your phone....
