Hey there guys,

Ive got the SGS GT I9000, I've looked at the promo website for the SGS. You know the galaxys.samsungmobile site, its got like a dozen videos with that guy lol.

One of the videos is about the navigation mode. My question is do you actually need that particular car mount to use your SGS as a navman. Because to me it looked like the phone needs to use that particular car mount in order to "activate" car nav man mode. lol I know I'm noob.

I reside in Sydney, Australia. When I try to 'navigate' to a particular place. It always comes up as attention "Google maps navigation is not yet available in this location". In saying this, is there any point in getting that particular car mount (which is about $80) is google navigation isn't available in my area?

I'd just like to have my SGS work exactly like a Navman, saves me from havingn to buy one.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

It may just be that we don't have a lot of aussies Shocked From having a portable GPS, I would say the main thing is that your holder provides clear sky view which is why there are so many that stick to windshields.

I don't know why google maps isn't available in your area but there is mapdroid and other GPS mapping software that you could use.

Hope this helps.

It did happened to me as well "Google maps navigation is not yet available in this location".

But I believe that it is just the application telling you that it is having difficulty to locate your location using the GPS.

Once the GPS signal is strong or properly connected, it doesn't pop up the "Google maps navigation is not yet available in this location" anymore and you are ready to use the application. I could be wrong, but I'm sharing it based from my experience. Hope this helps.
