I have same problem here. Before update to froyo wifi & usb tethering was fine, now both of them failed.
But I found out that this issue is specific for my operator. It work when I change to other .perator sim card

well. this is silly....

tried to change the firmware baseband version to I9000XXJP2. the problem still won't go. my laptop connected very well, but no internet connection.

tried with network tool to discover the problem. and the first suspect is DNS. tried using Google DNS on my laptop, which is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, still doesn't work at all.

second suspect is ministry of communication and Information technology in Indonesia, they push the operator to block porn content, so I assumed they will not allow use of DNS from outside country. then I called the call center of my operator (TELKOMSEL). then they give this DNS: 114.127.243.113 and 114.127.208.84. and it's WORKS!!!!!! wireles AP is now working properly....

so, the problem is. In Eclair, we usually not doing this (DNS). we assumed that on froyo we don't need to do it.....but we're wrong....

anyway...I love this baseband version, faster than DXJPA....
thinking upgrade to Gingerbread...

I donno if this will work but you can try this out..

I have rooted my vibrant tmobile.. using it with ATT.

updated with 2.2 froyo..

configured mobile AP with passsword.

connected  my laptop ..

It was showing connected but limited access (no internet)..

Then I tried to browse on my phone (while the laptop still connected with limited access to my cell phone Mobile AP) and suddenly the network was working on my laptop ..

Hi All,

I just bought a new Galaxy S in Australia that came with Android 2.2 pre installed and I can't connect to the internet via wireless AP either. I can get an internet connection via the usb tether, but if I connect to AP via wi-fi it's just limited access no internet... I can browse on the phone itself. Any suggestions are appreciated...

Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk

I am also experiencing this problem. A friend of mine using Samsung Galaxy Ace her mobile Ap works fine but when I tried mine it is not working

I had the same problem connecting with my mobile AP after updating to Froyo.

Changed my APN setting to include MMS Port 80.

I also re-registered my "Network Operators" through the Mobile network settings. In this case, it's Fido for me.

It started to work. Whew!

Hope this helps.
