Samsung Galaxy S won't turn on, only shows start up screen and then goes black!

yeh i have a external sd card ill have a look through my apps see if there could be anything there, one thing i always wondered is if its a firmware problem surly that's being wiped out each time i factory reset unless its a app i keep reinstalling that must mean a hardware failure however then how would it only happen after its been working for a month or 2 with no problems.

if this problem does persist with no obvious reason as to why would you suggest voiding my warranty and installing different firmware or sending it in to repair where it takes weeks and might not even solve the problem?

I made an account just to reply to this thread. I had this issue on my phone, and I tried all the basic actions like restarting, pulling the battery etc...

Took it to the store and they said try connecting Kies to update it, otherwise it'd be gone for 2 weeks. I tried Kies, didn't work. However I tried doing a factory reset like it was mentioned here, and it worked perfectly. Lucky most of my content (music/pictures) are on my SD card.

Hi....i am also facing d same problem. ...My screen would go black and would vibrate once and then twice but the back button and menu button are lit up. I have tried hard reset and soft reset but d problem would begin again after a weak or so.is dis a hardware problem or jus an app dat might be eating d memory. And is dis problem supposed to be persisting even after reseting my fone plz suggest.
I have samsung galaxy s gt i9000 (froyo kernel version 2.6.32.9)

It worked! I had to delete my user data, but with my SD card, I didn't lose any songs or photos. I just have to reload my apps! Thanks!

I am having Samsung I9003 model purchased in India 4 months back. I was facing problem of randomly shutting of my mobile when not in use. As per the replied in this forum, I did factory reset. After that the mobile was working but after installing few application skype, wavesecure and upgarding the exisiting apps like google maps, gmail, layar etc the mobile was working fine. But next day morning, when I starting using any app even task manager also, it gave me error then I turn off my mobile and after that it never turned on.

As per your above replies, I did the hard reset also. I remove the battery, pressed volume up + home + power button after that from menu i selected, wipe and delete all user data --> yes --> reboot mobile.

After doing also, my mobile is not turning on. Kindly help. Currently, I am not in India and cant find any service center at this place.

Note: I never upgraded my android OS and using Froyo from the starting.
