Basically, I was charging my phone whilst it was on and then when I went to use it, it had turned itself off. I tried turning it back on again and the start up screen works with animation and sound and then the screen goes black and pressing the menu, volume or power buttons don't work, but when pressing the touch buttons either side of the menu button, they light up and stay lit up.

Does anyone have the same problem? And/or does anyone know how to solve this problem?

PLEASE HELP ME!

Had the same problem today.  Seemed like something crashed, screen went black.  tried restarting and taking out the battery and sim and everything  .  It would come on the S logo, then alternate vibrating once then twice, with about 10 sec in between.  ended up taking it in and the guy there factory reset it.  which fixed the problem, but i lost all vides and pic, because i didn't have an sd card.

Hi,

you should make a factory reset using 3 combo:
1. press and hold "volume up"
2. press and hold "Home button"
3. press and hold "power button"
4. if Samsung logo shows up, let go "power button"
5. if a menĂ¼ with red colour show up, let the 2 button go.
6. choose wipe factory data reset.
7. go back and reboot.

Let me know how it went.

Send in to Samsung and they'll come here to look/wait for an answer/solution, then with what they get from here, repair your phone, test it, play with it, etc. Hmmm.....I'd say.....yes, two weeks will be save for them.  Big Smile

hey I've been getting this same problem now more then once each time I'm factory resetting my phone and its just a pain going through that each time, so does anyone have a idea on what could be causing it, maybe a app I keep reinstalling that could be causing it? or could it be a hardware failure? id just like to be able to solve this in the long run instead of having a short term solution of factory resetting each time. I'm running froyo 2.2.1

Have you upgraded to Froyo 2.2.1?
If yes, used Kies?

After the factory reset are you restoring from a backup or reinstalling everything clean?
