Hi,

Just want to know if anyone knows a fix for this. Basically the wireless tethering feature stopped working after I updated to Froyo (official).
My phone is unrooted.

I don't think root has anything to do with it.

Can you elaborate when you say it's isn't working?

I mean what error do you get or how is it not working. Need more details.

Did you do a soft reset after upgrade? or at least try and redo the settings?

I upgraded via Kies to the DXJPA firmware. I performed a factory reset afterwards.

I can browse the internet using the 3G connection in my phone.
However, when I try to tether my laptop (Macbook) it connects to the network I created using Mobile AP, but my laptop does not have internet connection. Note that I can still browse the internet in my phone during this time.

I have tried with other devices such as a laptop with windows 7 and an Iphone.
Prior to updating to Froyo, I can tether to the same devices easily.

I am not sure if there is something I need to update or if I missed some settings.

Thanks for any assistance.

Did you name it the same name when you did the settings?

if so delete your saved connection on the PC or rename it on your phone.

Tried tethering to other people's smartphones (iphone and sgs). Same results, they can connect to my network but no internet.

Hmm, My Next step would be to do a Soft Reset. Could be the config files are scrambled.

Remember if you are going to do it that it wipes your data so back up before you do it.

Hmm. I am actually in my second soft reset after updating to froyo, so I think it will not work. I might try again after I back-up my data.  Just wondering if rooting my phone would allow me to install something that will make it work.

If you root you can download titanium Backup.

It will Backup your Apps and data.

Can you try and Delete your old connection from the laptop.

And try to reconnect it.

Unfortunately from Experience, When some one gets a solution they usually don't provide the courtesy of letting us know.

So a lack of response is usually taken as a problem solved.

I tried deleting the connections too, it didn't work.

Just rooted my phone yesterday, and performed backup. Haven't performed soft reset again. Instead I just installed barnacle wifi tether just to try it out. And barnacle works, so I may not do soft reset (for the third time) in the near future. I am just too frustrated.
