Use the method posted on number 20 to Export your contacts into your SD Card. Move the 00001.vcf file to your PC and import it into your Gmail account using any Web Browser from your PC.

After you'd imported them into your Gmail account, create a Gmail account on your device using the same userid and switch ON Auto-Sync by going into [Settings] > [Accounts and sync] > check Background data and Auto-sync.

Then open your Contacts application, press the Menu button, select [More] > [Display options], tap on your Gmail account and check All contacts.

Big Smile You've found a better and simpler method. Good job.

Yes, as long as you keeps the Auto-sync active, any changes is vice versa.

I am not getting the option to Export to SD card/ Import to SD card. I don't have an external SD card installed. Is that why this option is not showing on my Phone?
I run Gingerbread 2.3.3- DDJV9
