Hoping someone can offer some advice because I'm on the verge of doing a factory reset.

When I go to my contact list and press History I get an error as below:

"the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"

I've done some research and it seems to be related to syncing contacts so I've tried every suggestion I've found:

Disabled syncing
Cleared the data from the contacts storage (ie: this deletes all contacts)
Rebooted
Downloaded an app to clear out the call logs

But nothing has helped. The odd thing is there seems to be a list of logs in that history tab (but before I can do anything with them I get the error). So even the apps that cleared my logs didn't seem to clear those which leads to me believe one or more logs might be corrupted or something.

Does anybody have any suggestions or even any alternate methods to clear those logs out manually?

Edit: I'm on stock 2.2

More information - it's not actually "call logs" that are causing the problem. It's a whole bunch of email logs (not sure from which email address because I have several and have been experimenting with various email apps lately).

So does anybody know of a way to clear those out?

Ok odd thing but I think I have fixed it myself after a LOT of cursing. I added my email address back to the default email application and polled for my email... then went back to the contact list (empty) and the history - a handful of new entries were there from the email account I added.. and it didn't crash... so I cleared them all out without any problem. Then removed the account from the default email application and all seems well.

I'm not really sure exactly what I did to cause it in the first place because I haven't used the default email app in quite a long time. However I was on a call log deleting spree today before this started it seems the phone didn't like that.

When I had a similar problem I cleared data in social hub and Samsung email apps. If you write all your steps in one post, next post even, I'll add it to the troubleshooting guide:)

Casz,

I saw the solution you mention online and I followed those steps but they didn't really fix whatever I was experiencing.

I think somehow this issue was of my own making and it had to do with email logs as well as myself removing email accounts from the various apps. Honestly I'm not sure what i did to cause it.  In the end I just re-added my account to the default android email app and then I was able to delete the email logs from the call log history.

Not really sure I have a cohesive set of steps.
