I opened up Samsung Apps, it asked if I wanted to update - I pressed ok. Now when I try to open Samsung Apps - it starts to open then freezes up. I get 'The application Samsung Apps (process com.sec.andriod.app.samsungapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

I have tried rebooting, restarting, force closing ... nothing works! When I 'uninstall update' and try to open Samsung Apps, it says an update is due ... if I cancel that, the app closes.

*sigh* - any ideas? Google seems to have nothing, which is weird :~(

Do a Soft reset.

First Backup what you need.

Then Goto Settings->Privacy->Factory Reset.

It has been seen many times, Kies gets moody simply Reseting the phone seems to help.

Let me know how it went.

Peace.

Thanks for the response ... I did do a factory reset in the end. It still took a couple of 'install - uninstall' rounds to get it working, but in the end it did update.

Thanks!

I had the same issue as the OP, but didn't want to do a factory restore. I fixed the problem and wanted to add my $0.02.

It seems that the Samsung Apps update can get corrupted and cause crashes when starting the app. To fix, I "uninstalled" a couple of Samsung packages. I use quotes because you can only uninstall the updates, not the entire package.

From the home screen: Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
"Uninstall" Samsung Apps and com.sec.android.app.samsungapps.una. Start Samsung Apps app and re-download the update.

Just wanted to post a message thanking not only you guys for a great forums, but also to say a personal thanks to scholar80 for his reply. As I decided to try and update the firmware on my Galaxy S yesterday, so after having to run that twice (through Kies) due to the phone not being updated since purchased.

Anyway the actuall downloading and installing of the firmware upgrades went fine with no real problems, I only notice the com.sec erro last night.

So I have just google the complete error message and found your site. Followed the instructions as posted by scholar80 and my phone is now working correctly.

SO MANY THANKS TO ALL!!

I too experience the crash of Samsung Apps and have attempted, unsuccessfully, to correct the issue. This has been VERY frustrating. It should NOT be this difficult to update a Samsung App on a Samsung product. MIGHT be time to start looking at the I-phone5
