Hi

I have just tried to update to 2.2, i updated Kies first, connected my phone, it came back saying update available, fully charged battery, all seemed to go ok, phone rebooted, but when coming back up I get the logo, and the start up music, then it vibrates a bit the keys on bottom left and right are lit up, screen black and doesn't seem to do anything.

Have I ruined the phone?? please help.

i had lag fix and was rooted, i plugged it in to laptop and it was recognised and said update 2.2 available, so i thought that was ok.

Now it is as i describe as above, i get battery logo if i plug into laptop.  if i press power button i get the GT galaxy s screen then the music, then the S galaxys screen which goes black with the two bottom keys lit, and vibrates every couple of minutes,  if i press power button again it goes off and to the battery logo again.

Cannot get odin or kies to recognise phone plugged in, laptop does not make a noise when plugged in, cannot or get it into recovery or download mode at all.

You asked for an advice and you were given an answer, but you ignore it and thought it was ok?

How many pages have you read from the link above?

Hi Omnian
1.I tried the 3 button method for recovery,
2.Ive tried the cmd prompt c:\AndroidSDK\tools\adb reboot recovery"
3.I have tried the vol - and home key together.
4.and then found a post saying hold vol+ and - at same time as plugging into laptop with odin up,
5.I also found the micro usb mod / jig 301 kohm resistor across pins 4 & 5, although not tried that one yet.

I think thats it,  Sad

Try taking and re-inserting your battery, then hold Volume Down, Power and Home buttons together. That'll bring you to the Download Mode which you can flash it with Odin.

Check out This and This.

I knew I would miss one off of my list, bugger!! Yep tried that one too.

Thanks again for trying, I really think I have exhausted all methods except for the USB JIG, which has been shown to work on you tube.

I have today dropped the phone into the repair centre, hopefully find out in a couple of days if they can sort it.

If they can't then I think I am going to try the USB JIG, I've ordered the parts just in case

Update
took my phone into an express repair centre, they couldn't fix it, so they sent it to the central repair centre.
2 days later phone is back and working, updated to 2.2 and the 3 button recovery works as well.

Just had to sync contacts with googlemail, where I back them up. and re install apps which I had written down which ones i had.

so all sorted, thanks for everyones input in trying to sort my problem. Smile
