kies reads my device but update not possible

after finally installing kies and running well... it recognise my device (galaxy S) however i did not mention my firmware neither update button not available

Is it possible that your phone's been locked by your carrier?

That is not possible because when I installed kies and connect my phone the first time it was showing normally and then when I tried upgrade my firmware, there was a msg to update my kies,,, after updating kies I have this problem.
