I came full circle on this too. last time i got this message i was on Vista laptop. I tried then on another computer (win7 laptop) with an older version of Kies. It then upgraded without an issue... So now i was on JP6/JPM and Kies offered to upgrade me to JPA/JPP and exactly at the point of downloading binaries came up with that stupid 'does not have sufficient battery power'.
I tried using an older version of Kies (on Win7, then on vista) and it refused to upgrade me (device cannot be upgraded).

So far i've given up - no idea why this message pops up. I really prefer not to use ODIN to reflash as the KIes upgrade preserves all the settings.

UPDATE: well, i uninstalled Kies and removed any settings. Clean install of latest version of Kies (on win7). Recover drivers from tools menu. Reboot. Then after a couple of slow driver loads, Kies said i could upgrade again. And it downloaded the binaries, went to upgrade firmware... and failed. So it then stated had to go into recovery mode (3br) and it apparently restored the firmware. Rebooted and... waited at the 'S' loading...mmh.. then my phone shows me and Kies shows me as now being on JPA/JPP/JP4 - ie. the latest version. Phone also shows, Froyo.XWJP6. Kernel version is shown as 2.6.32.9.

Can anyone verify that the kernel version and JPA version i have really is the latest version??

SOLVED: The only thing that worked for me was to do a Factory Reset on the phone via the Recovery Menu while still on JP6, have a fresh JP6, then go back into Kies and upgrade to JPA without a hitch :-)

 Cool

Good Luck.
