Hi there !!!

I'm trying to sync my Galaxy S with Outlook using Samsung Kies 2.0 but all I get is Kies that try to sync but nothin happens.

I thought that maybe is because I've rooted my phone but everything works fine with older versions of Kies.

I've read that I have to make a reset of the phone to factory settings. Is that true ?

Can anybody help me ?

Thanks

E.

hi,
i've never had much joy with Kies, even when it worked it didn't seem to want to save full details for all my contacts nor backup my SMS's adequately.  I hope people on this forum can help you get it sorted, but if the can't perhaps look to other solutions?

The one i used was to move to a gmail account and sync my gmail with my phone.  I save my phone contacts and calender as gmail contacts and calender by default - these sync automatcally with my gmal account in both directions.  I then purchased gSyncit for my desktop (about $15 US) and used this to sync my Outlook with my gmail account.  I now have my outlook / mail / galaxy sncing automnatically up and down the chain.  It works well and if there is the odd hiccup the gSyncit people respond to emails within an hour or so. I also use SMS BackUp Pro on my phone to automatically backup m SMS's to SD card.  Hopefull i won't need any of the above for disaster recovery

i hope you get Kies sorted soon, having had phone and laptop meltdowns last year i  get a tad anxious when i'm not syncing seemelssly
: -)

I've gotten some standard nonsense from Samsung. Kies Doesn't work in the US because of the offering of tethering. Samsung came out with Kies Mini which only works half the time.

You can plug into Kies and it will tell you directly "Kies does not work for this phone". YOu can try getting a UK version of Kies and maybe it will work if you dont have the latest firmware. or until AT&T gets the stick out their butt.

EDIT: i may revise this once i try Kies 2.0. Lets see.

Have u gotten this fixed?
I updated Kies to version 2.0 and it just keeps on trying to sync, without ever getting anything synced.

I'm going to make a hard reset of my phone tomorrow to see if Kies works then.

Companion Link looks fine ... it could be a good backup choice

Hi,

Had the same problem new Galaxy s with 2.2 and updated Keis.

Firstly had a nightmare getting Keis to see phone.

Removed libusb-win32 and that was resolved.

Then outlook would not sync - just sat there..

removed OCLF (One Click Lag Fix)  on phone - synced then reinstalled oclf.  Works like a chalm.

Hope this helps

HI,

First question - can Keis connnect to your phone?  Can you see the firmware and status screen etc?

If not then remove all 3td party USB drivers and from latest Keis reinstall USB drivers

Just to be sure here is a step by step: and 1 extra step:

1) Close Keis

2) Close Outlook

3) Remove OCLF (Go to OCLF and choose it's remove button  this will convert the file system from ext3 to the native RFS - that keis seems to have aa problem with)- DO NOT Uninstall it from the Phone)

4) Select Keis Mode  on Phone

5) Connect phone via USB

6) Start Keis

6) Move to Sync TAB
(this will start and outlook instance that may ask for your outlook profile if you have more than 1)

7) Once finished then you can disconnect your phone and reinstall
OCLF (Use OCLF menu again to resinstall)
