Well, problem solved!!!!

I've installed CompanionLink Software and since there I have problems syncronizing Google contacts.
I don't know the cause and I'm not pointing my finger.

I decide to do a Hard Reset.

All the data in the external SD card is ok.
I've re-installed the apps and all works ok right now.
I've ONLY lost my saved messages ... ... Crying

I'm not a fan of the "cloud" but Gmail syncs like a charm to my Galaxy and also Gmail Calendar.

So, I will forget Outlook.
I even get a bonus. I can sync / change my contacts/calendar in any place with net and wifi.

For me, Microsoft and Outlook lost the battle.
I don't declare Google a winner, but I can live with my contacts saved, no one knows where... ...

Sincerely
Carlos Manuel

I agree.  This phone operates better with Google's gmail/calander - and not at all with MS Windows 7.  No more USB plugs and manual synchronizing.  I like the 'cloud' but you have to wonder how your data will be safe on the 'cloud' for the rest of your life, without Google going bankrupt in the next 60 years,  whenever the next technological advance comes.

If you give up trying to link this phone to your computer, and instead sync using Gmail, this phone becomes amazing.  If you want to add music on your phone, just put the music on a SD chip and plug it in the phone.  Goodbye Microsoft.

-   START
-   CONTROL PANEL
-   PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE
-   SYSTEM
-   HARDWARE (Choice Folder)
-   DEVICE MANAGER
-   UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLER
-   (RIGHT KLIK ON IT, AND UN INSTALL)
-   RESTART SYSTEM
-   DIS CONNECT USB OR DEVICE (BEFORE SYSTEM WINDOWS START-UP)
-   AFFTER SYSTEM READY, RECONNECT THE USB OR DEVICE, THE KIES WIL AUTOMATIC APPEAR AND CONNECTING WORK…..

Was fine using earlier version of Kies (think it was 1.5.1.10056, before samsungmobile.com.sg release the software support page for Galaxy S)

Subsequently, installed the later version 1.5.1.10062_7 from the Galaxy S page...

Now it kept having problem to connect with my Galaxy S. couldn't install the Samsung Android USB modem and the MTP driver...

My lappie is running on a 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate OS.
I had four days of hell trying to do this, but hey presto I managed it today and upgraded to froyo.   Keis 1.5 said no upgrades. but press update and get the latest keys, of which ive had on the phone numerous times.  Then it allowed me to upgrade.

Firstly I debugged the phone from the settings. put phone into Keis usb mode. and unmounted internal card.  This time it found new hardware and installed, previous to that I was getting MTP cant be installed. and kept looking for the phone.

However Keis wont work in debugged mode so you have to change the setting. but it would have installed hardware.  Then plug phone back in and it immediately connected allowing to up grade. keep trying it will work, I was pulling my hair out.  Good luck x

I love this phone. It will connect to PC via BT but cant read most files on phone and wont connect to Kies. After spending so much money developing a great phone why cant Samsung sort the BT software out. Its garbage. My prevoius phone Nokia N96 connected effortlesly via Bt to PC as soon as they were in range. I could send and receive txts from pc via nokia pc Suit. I dont need all the garbage in Kies. Just a good seamless connection and similar functions to Nokia PC suit. Like most thinking people i am now regretting buying this phone and unless they quickly sort things out will i will never buy another Samsung phone. In this day and age i want and expect more than just a phone.

Samsung get your finger out and sort this !!!!

Try using EStrong File Manager available for free from the Market.

It allows Wifi browsing. Wifi is faster then Bluetooth so you might like that better than BT.

Peace.

 Angry
I have loaded Kies on my Win7 machine and it fails on start up every time.  The issue appears to be widespread and well known by the amount of hits on the web.  I have down loaded the latest version I have reinstalled it twice.  Tried running it from the directory, tried running it as an administrator nothing works.  Called customer service in Au and was told it was my problem and they could not assist.  They claimed to be totally unaware of any such problem.  Must say love the phone but Samsung Customer service now there is an oxymoron!!!  Angry Angry Angry Angry

Does anyone have a fix for this problem that does not involve editing scripts?
