Yes please!  Not sure if you actually use Outlook or not.  If you do MAKE SURE TO BACK UP FIRST!  I would back up the entire .PST file before doing any kind of sync.  If Kies has a back up option, I would do the same to the phone also.  I always do that just in case there is something weird with the sync conduit.

Hello fellow troubled Samsungers - I have just bought the Galaxy S last Wed from Carphone Warehouse - it launched in the UK Saturday last.

Sadly I am having exactly the same issues.

I am running Window 7 32 bit ultimate
Kies version no = 1.5.1.10062_42 (2010.06.24)
Firmware Version = 2.1-update1 (on phone)
Kies Driver Update error message = Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed
Have selected USB Debugging / USB Connected  and card mounted / unmounted but makes no diff
Mass storage selected
Kies Contacts sync error message = GT-19000 Card - The device does not support this service

I am seriously unimpressed and unless there is a fix within 3 weeks I will have to change the phone to another manufacturer. I got the Galaxy in preference to the new i-phone which launched in the UK on Thursday.  There must be a SIMPLE fix for this - surely all Samsung need to do is update their drivers ?????

Question - could I sync my contacts via Blootooth instead ???

Hi

There is no connection to Kies, no sound when I plug the cable or unplug it. No nothing.

Maybe im have missed something? I have no memory card. But thought i could use some of the 8gb on it.

Its irritating, but i have no experience with either Samsung or Android.

Anybody experiencing the same?

Have you tried reinstall Kies? I had the same problem and end up reinstall Kies, (make sure phone is unplugged), restart machine, restart phone, then plug in the phone. I am running Window 7 64bit.

Hi!

I tried many things yesterday, but rebooting the phone wasnt one of them. I will try later today. Haha.
do you recommend that I use Mass Storage as default? Read many places that Kies as default when pluging the usb is not working. . .

Tiptronic:
Yeah, I know, but felt my case was a little bit different as my computer didnt find my phone at all.. Not only Kies that didnt find it. . . But i read some interesting tips there in that thread too.

What I did forget to mention, is that I owned a Wave in a couple of days. And I installed kies already then, but didnt manage to connect the wave either. So maybe som files still is on my computer after that.

The directory C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{D6CD26FD-CD7F-4C86-96A3-EEBFABE5FE47} doesnt exist on my computer though.
But i will try to see if there is something in Device Manager to uninstall too.

I am a noobie. hahaha

Forget Kies, use 'mass storage mode'.
Unmount the INTERNAL memory, re-mount it then connect the USB cable.

I confirm this method works, just go settings-> Sd card and phone storage-> under Internal SD Card, unmout Sd card and then re mount it. plug in my phone and it start installing the driver and kies open automaticly. Happy

For Phone internal memory, I have to connect with Kies. I tried mass storage but its only allow me to connect to the extenal SD card.

I just install Kies at office and have the same problem again(only works on mass storage connection but not kies). I then go settings-> SD card and phone storage -> under internal SD Card, unmount and remount it, plug in the USB cable, it then appears to reinstall the driver on my computer, after that, kies start up automaticly. Hope this help.

Hi!

Thank you so much for the help!

I am at work atm so i wont be able to test with Kies. But I tried to plug it in my workPC. Nothing happened. But then i rebooted, and then the PC found it. The phone was set to Mass Storage. So i guess that may work.

And i am pretty embarassed for not actually trying to rebbot the phone. Haha. felt i had tried everything! except that ....

thanks a lot, sorry for kind of doublepost, but maybe other will have the same issue, and doesnt have to read through all the posts in the other thread..

Actually you don't need to install Kies to see the internal sd card, I just tried on another window7 64 bit without install kies. Once I plug in the phone, it will automaticly install the driver. Then nothing happen. I then realise that I need to scroll down the notification bar and mount the sd card from the USB message. I can now browse the internal sd card and external sd card from the phone without install Kies connecting using only "Mass Storage"

I just manage to connect my galaxy s to my pc by re-set the USB setting connection from Kies to Mass storage.  But I only can transfer data to my external SD card not the interal.  Ask Samsung by email, and they gave me the answer is "Have you download the latest verion of Kies?  If not unintall the preious one and re-intall the latest verion"  I feel just wasting my time by email them because they didn't get me the answer I want.  I already got the latest verion of Kies, but still wouldn't able to transfer data to the internal SD.  Try and download the APPs from the Kies(free One) and then select the mobile phone I got, they even didn't have the Galaxy S from the selection which mean I don't think the Kies can support the Galaxy S yet....any idea????

I haven't had a chance yet to try your suggestions (really should be working!) I do not have an SD card installed, only the Sim card so am thinking that this isn't going to help me either. However I will let you know how I get on ...
