Windows 7 x64 and Galaxy s i9000.

Turn off windows media player - Start - control panel - uninstall progs - turn off windows features.  Uncheck all related to WMP.

Uninstall Kies

Reinstall Kies

Connect phone - Not in debugging mode.

Select kies mode on the popup.

Good luck

I tried EVERYTHING to get Kies to recognize my Bell Vibrant GT-I9000M on my XP laptop (different versions of Kies, different drivers, unmount/format SD card, factory reset) to no avail.

Then I installed the latest Kies on my windows 7 desktop and it worked right away! What's the deal??? Anyways just a heads up that it might be computer software related and also that trying a different computer might work.

Now it's telling me a firmware update is available...here goes nothing....

Hey everyone this is my first post so bear with me, I recently read a fix for this problem on a Korean site and didn't see it posted much of anywhere in English so I thought I'd share it with you and see if it fixed anyone's problems.

We know that there are many Samsung users that are still struggling with connecting your phone to your computer through Samsung Kies.  While our solution isn’t an end all for every issue concerning Kies, its definitely worth a try if you have been struggling with this for a while and haven’t found a solution your specific problem yet.  As always if you are having any problems or this doesn’t fix your particular problem, let us know in the comments below and we’d be happy to research it for you.

Here is another method to fix your connection woes and if you are new to the site, we also wrote an article a while back to try this method as well: http://www.careace.net/2010/07/29/what-you-can-do-with-samsung-kies/

1. Open ‘Command Prompt’

2. Type in ‘cd c:\windows\system32′ in the command prompt window (or replace the c with whatever drive letter you use as your main drive, typically it will be C though)

3. Type ‘dir msxml*’ and enter in the command window

4. If there is not an ‘msxml6.dll’ file shown in the list, download the file from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=993c0bcf-3bcf-4009-be21-27e85e1857b1&displaylang=en and make sure to leave your command prompt window open, you’ll need it for later.  Download the first file in the list at the bottom of the page called msxml6.msi  and you have a 64-bit system download the bottom link called msxml6_x64.msi (if you’re not sure what system you have just download the first one)

5. Double click on the .msi file and it should do the rest.

6. Go back to your command prompt window and register the libraries by doing the following:

=> Type ‘ regsvr32 msxml3.dll’ and press enter in the command prompt
=> Type ‘regsvr32 msxml6.dll’ and press enter and you should see something similar to the screen below

7. Run Samsung kies and check if it is working properly.

Now if the above method doesn’t work for you or if in Step 4 you see that you already have msxml6.dll and you are still having connection problems, then you can visit us at www.careace.net and click on the contact button on the left side of the page.

Be sure to include the following when explaining the problem:
**Type of Phone
**Type of computer
**What Android OS you are running
**What OS is on your computer
**Describe exactly how you try and connect the phone to your computer each time (make sure to try the same method a couple times to make sure it’s consistent) and write down all error messages or error reference numbers for us

Thanks and we will attend to you problem ASAP.

Your solution absolutely does not fix the problem?! My phone won't even connect via USB WITHOUT THE INTERNAL CARD IN!!!! It loops without any card. I have spoken to Samsung tech support and they say there is nothing they can do. FYI... If you own a Galaxy S out there or you are thinking about getting one? DON'T!!! I moved everything to my phone memory and lost it all as soon as the USB started acting up.

FORMATTING THE DAMN CARD WON'T HELP! STOP TELLING PEOPLE THAT! FORMATTING THE PHONE MEMORY WON'T HELP EITHER! THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO! SEND IT BACK AND WAIT FOR THE G2. SAMSUNG MADE SOMETHING THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND AND SHOULD RECALL ALL THE PIECES OF ****!!!!!!

Hi jdh1969,

Please mind your attitude.

This don't work for you doesn't mean that it won't work for others.

Samsung, as a world wide famous brand, will not just release anything under development. Not perfect maybe, but definitely not as bad as you mentioned.

Trace back what you've installed, some cache, left in your "sdcard" can and will cause what you've said - "LOOP".

Samsung tech can do nothing for you? Why not ask them to update your device to the latest firmware?

There's 2 things will happen:

1 ) They can't do it because they also have the "LOOP" problem, which means the problem is from your device, so claim warranty.

2 ) They are able to update it (your problem should be solve), so the "LOOP" problem was something else. Try other PCs.

Many people are using this phone and it had made its way to one of the BEST device atm. Based on only your "one bad experience", you're condemning Samsung and , worst, the helps that other members are giving out here?  Angry

Hi All,

Frustrated as it is, not joy at all for trying all methods found so far, still have usb connection problem.
My OS on PC is windows 7 32bit, Kies is 1.5.1.10074.

The problem is when I connect SGs to PC, Kies can feel that this is a piece of usb device trying to talk, but kies can't see what it is, and just keeps on loading the drivers, and on and on......., no end, so no connection.

I phoned samsung help desk, they haven't a clue, a pretty useless bunch!

I know this is an old problem, and quite a universal one as well, but still hope some one can shed some lights.
many thanks

See whether there's any cache file on your \sdcard.

You're right about my attitude. I apologize.
However, T-mobile has even set up a department to handle the extraordinary volume of Samsung Vibrant returns already because they can't solve the same issues that I'm complaining about? That's odd for such an advanced phone.
I'm in the US and we typically get 2nd best compared to Europe and Asia. We don't even have Kies. Samsung says it's not available in the US.

I guess I'm just sick of all the hype when a new product comes out just to find that the main focus of the equipment is in fact false advertisement at time of release?

I have most of the free file converters and paid for 3 really good ones and while you can come pretty close the the quality of the pre-loaded Avatar movie... You can't replicate it's perfection. It took a team of developers to make that happen.

Also, Media Hub... I'm sure it will work some day? Well, it doesn't work now. They shouldn't release equipment this advanced if it's not going to be able to do what they say when it's released? I've bought all the cell phones over the years as technology has improved all the way back to the motorola DPC 550 circa '89, the motorola Startac circa '95 first small pocket flip, the Nokia 2160 circa '96/97... first phone to toggle between digital and analog, the Sony/Ericcson T68i during the 2.5g inception. I've lived cell phone technology since the mid 90's. Heck, I even took an 8 hour/day for 2 months course on cellular technology, so I think I have the knowledge to back up my complaints. Not to mention I do have a higher education in the field of software.
Anyway, My apologies again on attitude, but I'm not the only frustrated cell phone techy. Not by a long shot.

Make sure you follow the posted instructions until the very end. It appears you missed the last step(s).

Hi.
Thanks for the reply. I have done all the methods I could find, including unmount and format the sd card, but no use.

Seems to me you are not alone in your experience with KIES.

What is happening to you, happened to me.

KIES just goes into a an endless loop of "connecting device".
During this, no USB connectivity was possible.

Here is what I tried:
1.  disconnect GS from KIES - reconnect - no success;
2.  disconnect GS from KIES, shut down KIES - reconnect - no success;
3.  shut down KIES - shutdown GS, started up GS and reconnected - KIES looped - no success.
4.  instructed KIES not to load device upon connection - KIES ignored the instruction - no success - still looping.
5.  whilst GS disconnected - uninstalled KIES - shutdown GS - powered up GS - connected via USB - SUCCESS for USB connectivity (immediately).

Whilst KIES is good for managing contacts, it's current instability will have me avoiding it's use.  Eyes Rolling  Just use windows explorer via USB connection (but uninstall KIES & power down/up GS first)

I know people have a variety of solutions for the Kies connection problem to the Galaxy S.

Personally i though i had resolved mine yesterday evening after several different suggestions - when i formatted the on-board SD card - HOWEVER on connecting for the second time the same problem occured i.e. :
MTP connection screen flickering (slidig in and out) and Kies not connecting.

Please let me (and others) know how you resolved your Kies to Galaxy S connection problems.

*** remember make them step by step and simple ***
*** not everyone is as technically advanced as some members on here ****
