Just got Galaxy S here in Bahrain. The phone has 25 Arabic influenced applications which I would like to remove. I would also like to program/flash or what ever the phone to UK spec. I have tried Kies and get the message that device cannot be updated!!!!
The baseband version is I9000JXJG2 and the firmware is 2.1-upgrade 1
Any ideas out there? Thanks

Custom firmwares can be found on XDA or MoDaCo.

I have a SGS bought in the Middle East. I downloaded the latest Kies version a few days ago from the SS website and I can see my phone appear on the right of the KIes screen when connected. If I try to 'update' I get a message saying "this device cannot be updated" Is there any way to clear out the 'Middle East' software installed in the phone and replace it with the UK version? I selected my location as UK when installing Keis and UK English as the languge.
Thanks.

Why are you asking the same question again?

Because I still have the same problem. I'm not a computer expert so I'm looking for a site that will give a 'step by step' guide on how to remove the current JXJG2 firmware and replace it with the UK version. Thanks.

I've given you three links above. Those are the step-by-step guides.

It won't help to multiple-posts a same question on a different topic within the same Forum. The answer is the same.

Your best chance of changing the Middle East firmware to a UK firmware is to follow the links above.

Read the instructions on those links, if don't understand then asked here with what/which part you don't understand.

Followed your link to xda and found a post on flashing original firmware using Kies. Was a bit confused by the 'reg edit' bit but managed to work that out and updated the phone this afternoon to UK spec. Thanks for your help.
Now, whats this new Foryo thing LOL
