That last post bumped this thread up and has brought it to my attention.
@pedropcg: How do you know that the phone is turned on? Are you still getting notifications and sounds? As TomasR mentioned, there are several steps to connecting the phone to a PC. As you don;t have a working screen, you'll have to imitate the gestures assuming that they're working.
First of all, once the device is loaded up, unlock it. Depending on what the type of lockscreen you have (and hopefully it's this one http://betanews.com/wp-content/uploads/media/51/5159.jpg
), you'll have to hope it works.
Then connect it to a PC that has sound. You should get a sound on the PC once the phone has (physically) connected.
If you've done this quick enough, the phone should give you the option to connect to USB storage which looks like this (stock Gingerbread ROM):http://www.samsung.com/us/system/support/content/2012/06/19/h7053/NotificationPanel%5B0%5D.pngRoughly
select "connect as a media device". Sometimes it doesn't need confirming so try accessing the visible drives in My Computer
If not, this screen:http://www.foxreal.com/article-images/s3-usb.png
Shows the location of the confirmation screen. Again roughly
select the option and if you've done it right, you should get access to the drives.HOWEVER
, if the screen isn't working and it's not just a display but also a hardware issue, you won't be able to do any of this and the phone unfortunately terminal. A specialist is required to replace the screen.
Doesn't hurt to try though.
@stu4thfc: that's a strange one. Could you supply any other information? What were you doing before you "went to bed"? Did you install any apps, open emails, browse the web? Anything?
