Hi

I have problem with charging my phone. I plug the charger and my Galaxy goes crazy. The screen firstly goes black, then my Samsung loads the main screen and it scans media, then again it goes black and loads the main screen etc. I can't do anything, it won't respond to anything. I have to turn it off, wait until it's charged, unplug the charger and turn my phone on and then finally it's working. When my Galaxy isn't charging everything works fine.

Any ideas what the problem may be???

Its either you charger or your SGS faulty, is your SGS less than a year old? if so take back to the shop you bought it from.

Hi,
I have the same problem with charging. Same story basically with crazy acting after plug in, black screen, media scans etc. And it isn't the charger issue (checked with two chargers already) and the handset is brand new. Thing is because it is my second SGS during the 2 weeks time (I replaced the previous one coz it has the same problem) I started to think maybe it is me who's doing something wrong.. I'll try to replace that one too but obviously I can't do it endlessly.
Cheers,
Lukas

well, i've took the phone to the shop i bought it and they give me another handset (my 4th from the beginning of the year). they even plug in the new phone into the charger they have in the shop to make sure everything is allright...
so here i am, sitting here, few minutes after in plugged in my new SGS into the charger and guess what - same story again: phone is vibrating, get black screen, then go back to the main screen, but doesn't response to touch, does multimedia scan every 5 seconds etc. etc. i checked the chargers (i have two), even try different sockets too (i know - silly me)..
any advises, please?

Go back to the shop.

Take the two chargers with you.

And plug it in infront of him.

It seems like it's your adapter. Not the Phone.

Or maybe the Electricity at your home is fluctuating alot, and it messes with the DC voltage being sent to the phone.

An easy way to detect this is to check how hot the battery is.

Open the Battery case and touch the Battery, it should be getting hot very rapidly.

Peace.

it's very unlikely it is the charger or the socket problem. last time when i took the previous phone back to the shop the guy there plugged it into their charger just to check what i am talking about when i say my SGS 'going crazy'. and the phone did the same thing it did while i was charging it at home.. thing is, when he gave me the new one he plugged it into the charger to make sure everything is fine. and it was. that is until i took it home and try to charge there. anyway, i'm going to take the phone and the charger to my office to check if it is the electricity problem. however even if it is it won't solve the problem as i bought the phone that suppose to work and be able to charge it every time and everywhere.

update: already in the office. i plugged in the charger into the socket, phone into the charger and story repeated.. it's my 4th SGS already and i think it's just time for different handset.

Sorry I should be more layman.

The biggest problem facing small devices like smart phones is their Battery.

Now the whole industry is looking for a solution for the battery problem, the one who solves it will be filthy rich.

What am I talking about?

I am talking about the problem of Li-Ion Batteries. They have to be charged slowly, and they will discharge slowly. If you charge them fast they will discharge fast.

They retain the speed they are charged with, once it's set not much you can do.

When they discharge faster they give a higher output then is recommended for the device.

What I am suggesting is that your Electrical fluctuation has disturbed your battery and is giving off a higher discharge rate, you can check this by feeling the temperature of the battery. (As I suggested Earlier).

Even if you check at your office, the problem should be replicated.

There is also a Resistor (Governor) to make sure that this doesn't happen, but I guess it's fried otherwise you shouldn't be facing this issue.

Did this problem arise immediately after you plugged in the device at your home or did it take a while? It should have taken a while.

My knowledge in the field is not the highest, I read about it a while ago, so if someone can correct me on it, that would be awesome.

There has been progress in Batteries, Recently I read about a new method for producing batteries that can be charged in a couple of minutes and discharge at a similar rate to what we have now.

Ok found the link.

Peace.

thx for your reply. the question now is why i didn't have such problems with my first SGS. i did charge it at home and had no problems like that. anyway, i'll go to the shop, try to replace it and then try to charge it in the office instead of doing it at home

This is a theory, I am providing a probable cause.

I don't know the situation nor the environment that you have, I am going on the hypothesis that there is a fluctuation in the electricity at your home, and that in turn has led you to these problems, but this problem should also be affecting other electrical appliances at your home.

It could also be a problem with the Extension Cord, in which case everything connected to that particular Cord is having problems.

You are intelligent enough to Figure out things for yourself. After reading about your problem, this is the thing that came to my mind. You need to test if it is actually correct.

A theory only get strong after it has been tested many times and is able to hold it own in all tests.

Peace.
