Hello, guys. Has anyone got the same problem of Galaxy S (Gingerbread  2.3.6) restarting itself? My phone used to experience the infamous "sleep of death" symptom, but it has disappeared after rooting and uninstalling some applications that I suspected to have caused it. Anyway, for the past couple of days, my phone restarts itself randomly many times a day, sometimes when I'm talking on the phone and sometimes while I leave it idle. As far as I know, there is no battery or heat issue. I find it weird since I haven't installed any app or changed any settings lately. Any idea how to fix it? Thank you.

Try a factory reset and see if there's an improvement.

i Have Same problem and i but it back to factory reset and still have same problem should Samsung fix that problem.

Thank you, lorsban for your reply. I'll try what you suggest. After that week, the symptom disappeared for a long time until last Wednesday, in which it re-occured, restarting a couple times a day. Now it's fine again. What really annoys me is I have no idea what might have prompted it, so I can't avoid it. It's just unpredictable.

Just wondering if you are still having this problem. i have had that issue on and off for a few months now. Plus my Galaxy S (Gingerbread 2.3.6 ) also looses all of my T-Mobile settings sometimes and I have to go in and set them manually. I have taken it into the store many times. They have warrantied it three times now. I wish I would have done them closer together instead of waiting some like the rep talked me into. Would have a different phone by now. Yes they offered me a new phone, but a smaller and lower class (Blaze). The one I have now is only three days old and has rebooted twice and locked up at least three times, forcing me to manually restart it.

I am at a loss. If it wasn't for the good relationship I have with my local T-Mobile reps I would be a Iphone owner. Which may still be in my future.

Hi. My phone is now back to normal *taps wood* but I won't be surprised if it bails on me again one of these days. Like I said, I have no idea what causes it. I just notice that the problem has occured much less since I rooted the phone. Also, I feel that some apps that are required to run 24 hrs. in the background (in my case - some launchers, and some countdown clocks) could be the factor. Apart from doing a factory reset, some people suggest leaving the phone on until its power runs out and shuts down itself before re-charging it might help. I can't see how that's got to do with anything, but it doesn't hurt to try once or twice. Sorry that I can't offer you more useful advice.

I still think SGS, when it works, is generally a great phone for its price, but I probably won't recommend it to anyone who doesn't have time and patience to keep maintaining it.
