Hi,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S (GT I9000) running 2.3.3 (Gingerbread.ddjv9). However, the Menu and Back keys are not functioning since a few days. I read somewhere that these are really soft keys and there is no 'mechanical' component to this, and I can also see them light up when touched (or disabled when touched), but they do not perform any function at all.

Has anyone else faced a similar problem? What could be the solution?

Is it a firmware problem, instead of a hardware one?

Thanks for helping out!

Sando

I have the same problem! I've been searching the forums but nobody is responding to any of our pleas for help! Maybe this is an unfixable problem?? I might have to go trade it in for another phone?

You can try updating the softkey firmware:

Open the dialler and type *#*#2663#*#*  then select both options to update.

Thanks for the suggestion.

When I punch that code and hit TSP FW Update then the phone FREEZES! I left it all night and the battery was over-heating and it was still frozen. I did this several times AND I even re-flashed the firmware with Odin... apparently new roms and kernels don't effect the menu and back buttons!

Any other ideas? Nobody seems to have encountered a fix for this...

What firmware did you flash? Was it stock firmware or custom? Was it a single file or 3-part?
