The weirdest thing happened to my Galaxy S a couple weeks ago. The touch screen freezes 3 times a day or sometimes it might last even a full day before freezing again.

By freezing I mean the screen becomes unresponsive but it still shows picture and everything.

The only way I've found to fix this temporarily is to unconnect the screen cable connector from motherboard and connect it again. Taking just the battery off doesn't help.. The other solution is that I can just leave the phone laying on a table for several hours (sometimes 5minutes) and it works when I pick it up.

So I'm kind of confused what the problem could be. I've updated from 2.1 to 2.2 froyo after this problem started.

Has anyone had this problem? I hope that it's a software problem but I don't know... Any ideas?

Hi,

after updating did you do a hard reset?

Hi,

for updating did you use Kies or Odin?
If Odin, you should go for XXJPU. This is Froyo v.2.2.1.

Do you have it connected to a generic usb charger when this happens? You can't use any old charger with the galaxy s because theses issues happen.

No, it happens while not charging also. Although I've used some old charger. Could that affect something permanently?

Hi everyone,

I had the same problem, and I noticed this is a condition given the touchscreen is being pressed simultaneously while you connect the battery charger to the mobile. In my case this issue happened due to my phone has a protective skin that press very lightly the screen... once i remove the cover the problem stops... so, i have to charge it without the skin.
you can try to replicate the condition by pressing the upper part of the screen while you connect the charger and then try to use the touchscreen. I hope this help someone.

bye.

I ordered new lcd+touch panel and replaced the old one in case it was broken. It wasn't...

So exactly same problem is still bugging me. I changed to 2.3.2 with Odin but it didn't help out. Then I tried to brush the motherboard with electronics cleaner and toothbrush.
After every operation the phone works for a couple of hours of active usage and then becomes unresponsive.

I'm becoming desperate about this project..
