Hi guys,

I have a completely stock samsung captivate. The screen has all of a sudden gone blank, I didn't even drop or damage the phone physically. The only thing I can see on the screen are greyish horizontal lines, but I can still receive calls and audible notifications.

I have already tried:

1. power cycling the phone

2. entering recovery mode.

3. entering download mode.

Can someone please help? Thanks in advance.

Did you actually do anything while in recovery or download modes? Simply accessing these will not make a difference.

When in recovery mode,  factory reset/wipe the handset,  then the cache,  then reboot.

Download mode is used for upgrading/flashing firmware,  which is worth trying if the reset doesn't work.
