Hi
The wifi on my galaxy s is draining my battery at an alarming rate.
With wifi on it drained about 30% in 5 hours Crying ,if i turn wifi off it uses  about 2% in 5 hours.
I have noticed that if i go into settings/wireless and network/wifi settings/and turn on wifi and also turn off network notifications it still says it is scanning very few seconds where the wifi networks bar is at the bottom of the menu.
I think that this scanning is whats causing the battery drain,so how can i stop the scanning ?,it is already connected to my wifi network at home,so it shouldnt be scanning if i have network notifications disabled..should it ? thanks

Do you have apps set to auto-sync? Try switching these off as well as the auto-sync option in settings. Another problem could be you have weak wifi connection.

Hello,

I am using Galaxy S2 and I have the same problem. I have autosync in settins off, notification of new open metworks in wifi settings off, wifi strength is excellent (the phone is 2m from the wifi) but it still keeps scanning every few seconds. I have tried it on at least three different networks and the behavior is always the same. I am not sure if it is a bug, or there is some parameter somewhere which needs to be set to disable the scanning, or the phone is intentionally built to scan for networks all the time regardless of whether it is connected to wifi network already or not. Does anybody have similar experience? Is there some solution to stop the scanning?

There are several threads about this within the forums but all threads seem to end the same way and that is un answered! Surely someone at Samsung must know that there is an issue with their product yet no response to acknowledge this issue nor any attempt to solve it has been made! We will be here without any assistance from samsung until someone accidentally stumbles on the problem and informs us all of why our phones are malfunctioning. When we have the answer samsung will work on preventing the issue and claiming they have fixed the obvious bug within their "not so smart" phone! Typical, I think we should get together and demand samsung sort this out by getting some of their developers to look into the problem

I have my continium rooted and love how it works. lately the wifi (maybe it did this more often just did not realize) connects and keeps scanning. This disables the wifi alot and I have no way of stopping it. I have also read these posts and there is no help. Has anyone come across a solution to stop the scanning. I would take the person out for dinner if they could come up with the solution. PLEASE HELP!
