Hi Y'all.

I just upgraded my phone's ROM to I9000BUJV9. No problems occurred and everything looked perfect until I turned on the WiFi to connect to my wireless base, then the Galaxy S rebooted and is now in a reboot loop. The only way to correct this is to either reinstall the ROM or restore to the previous OS.

Has this happened to anyone else or has anyone heard of this problem? If yes, was there a solution to correct it?

Thanks.
Cole :-)

Thanks for the info, IronSingh.  This info is good advice and being a Computer Engineer, this is also a good 'rule of thumb' to follow. :-)

I've done both an upgrade and a fresh clean install, and the phone behaves the same in both instances as soon as I turn on the WiFi. The ROMs I used were BUJV9, XXJV0 and XWJVH. I was forced to return to BUJV3, Build XWJVB.

This problem will not be mine for much longer anyway as I'm going to sell my Galaxy S and buy the Galaxy S II which comes with the latest version of Gingerbread. Of course I'll be upgrading to 2.4 once it comes out. :-)

After more testing, I've found what is causing the reboot cycle. The CWM to root the device is causing the rebooting after turning on the WiFi.  This is the current version of CWM for XXJV0.

Hopefully this will not be in the next version so I can root my GS2 next week.  Big Grin

What file are you using to root your phone?

There are many versions online, many of them are outdated and not recommended to root with.

Peace.

I had exactly the same problem. Every time I would upgrade to 2.3 and then apply the root everything would be fine until i tried to enable wifi. Then all i would get is constant boot loops.

I ended up reflashing with a differed version of android (2.3.3 i think) instead of using Kies to upgrade. Then applying a different root found posted in a how to together with android 2.3.3 .

That seemed to cure the wifi problem and everything seems great now. it was worth the effort!
