I was trying to change the font of my new galaxy S (just bought 2 days ago). The instruction is to reset the phone so I reset it, but after a few seconds or I think a minute, my phone hangs up. I’m trying to turn it off but its not responding…so I removed the battery just to turn it off (I thought it is safe). But when I turn on, the start up screen locks up…Ive waited for a few minutes thinking that maybe the phone is still reading the system…but still the same…just the start up screen…and it was stuck there.

I tried to turn on & off  but the problem is still the same…Please help me…please…

Since upgrading to Froyo   I cannot change fonts, and  settings app hangs.   I go into settings / Display / Fonts.......then the phone vibrates,  and in a minute or so I get this message

Sorry.  The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.   

I have tried many times,  but still no go.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Try giving it a Hard-Reset using the 3 buttons combination posted Here, #1.

Are you using Froyo?

This is a recurring theme with the font change in Froyo.

Hello Everyone,
This is my first time posting here and i am in desperate need of your assistance. I have recently purchase a Bell Vibrant 2 weeks ago and update to Froyo Yesterday however today i tried to restart my phone and it would not start up.
here is what happens after the restart,
i see the boot screen with the large "S" and Galaxy at the bottom.
then it goes black for a long while, i could not wait another 10 mins so i tap the power button and after sometime the back and menu button lights up.
and it stays like that.

please guys i really need your help.

i am getting the same problem as of tonight i tired the hard reset but nothing.. i am getting the same issue.

SSA,

Please try a Soft Reset

Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data Reset.

Soft Reset will clean all the setting files. Hard reset seems to clear some but not all files.

Please let us know how it went.

i have tried both hard and soft reset and nothing.

how can i flash my phone and reinstall froyo ?

It feels a shame that you waited so long only to end up flashing it.

You can use Odin or Hiemdall the Roms are available in Hacks Section.

New Update: This seems to be a Bell Problem.

Please give it in for Repair. As people apply the update the number of cases will probably increase, so the sooner you take it in the faster you will get it back.

You could always flash it, using the software mentioned.
