I have just arrived in South KOrea with my Galaxy S
I bought a KT sim card and was told that provided my phone was unlocked all would be well but THIS IS NOT THE CASE.
Aus Galaxies don't support the Korean 3G network, so i cannot access the internet.
SHORT texts and calls still work, however here long texts are sent as MMS, also carried by the 3G network, so i cannot receive them.
This is causing me a world of trouble right now!
Does anyone know if it's possible for me to root my first and install some sort of Korean OS on my phone, and have it work with Korean 3G networks? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I don't know much about rooting or anything, but, theoretically, would I be able to install the Korean Firmware that their galaxies are released with? And then have my phone work here?
my phone info:
Model No: gt-i9000
firmware v: 2.2
baseband version: I9000DTJP3
build number: FROYO.DTJPS
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S604 #7
Is firmware even the right word for what I'm talking about? OS? WHO KNOWS!!
