Hi Samsung fellows...............

Well, it looks like that once you buy something new and powerfull, you'll later (probably in a very short time after buying it) start to encounter" NEW ERRORS "!! Becasue this is what really happened to me during the last 7 days.

Again, I bought my SGS about 2,5 months ago, and now (sometimes not always) I found out that I have " OVERSLEPT " more than 3 or 4 times!! And the reason was that the ALARM of my SGS ------------->> ( did NOT wake me up at all!!),  in other words , the alarm did not ring, work, ( go off ) all!!

I actually thought  that it really did ring, but I must have slept (very deeply) and did not hear it ring, but the sad thing is that I set the alarm to ring after 30 mins (to make sure of the alarm functionality), and this was the result---->> ( it did NOT ring at all). Note, that I made sure of the AM and PM thing, but it didnt work.

Did any of you experience this problem? Remember that this problem happened also to the iPhone users about a month ago, so is it time for us to experience this??

Thank you all...................

I also have this problem...

I have replicated the problem and any help would be good.

My alarm is set for 7.30 am, the last two mornings I woke up at 7, first I turned it off pressing by pressing the little clock icon next to the alarm time to make sure it's off. The clock icon disappeared from the status bar but the alarm still went off at 7.30.

The next morning i did the same but this time after turning off the alarm turned my phone fully off then back on at 7.15am. The alarm didn't come on.

My build numbers are...

Firmware 2.2
Baseband I9000ADJP3
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S608#1
Build number FROYO.ADLP6

If I goto Kies it says my firmware version is PDA:JP6 / PHONE:JP3 / CSC:JP3 (O2U)

I'm with O2 and Kies says that my firmware is up to date.

Thanks for the tip, although you might as well have said get an iPhone!

I assume after I spent the time to post my firmware data you checked and agree that there is an issue?

Of course I know there are other Alarm apps out there, but it would be nice if the one that comes with it worked. Last night I downloaded an alarm app and deleted the alarm in the existing app... It still came on this morning even though it was deleted!!!

Is Samsung just not bothered?

Glenn.

Please keep your posts in one area, don't respond in two threads with the same response.

It makes my life difficult, and I don't know why you would do that to me as I am trying to help you. If not to make my life easier then for the rules.

If you read the rules there is a part where it deals with double posting.

Just decide where you want to respond I will respond there.

Btw, Your Response is here.

Peace.

hi,

I am also having this problem just as sam_user describes, sometimes alarm works and others it doesnt.

For example on certain days of week i have 4/5 alarms set and 2/3 will go 'off' the others wont and apart from the time they are set identically.

I have used my own files as alarms and tested that it isnt a corrupted file as the same file was used in the alarm that DID go 'off'.

Like sam_user said - the better the phones get the more problems arise, my solution ?

Use my old old old moto razr for back-up alarm  Big Grin

I will also try the alarm droid suggested by ironsingh

SERIOUSLY! The GALAXY II "designed for humans", or whatever the ridiculous slogan is, DOESN'T integrate an alarm function that interconnects with diary, tasks and memos? Neither does it offer an alarm option that is actually audible nor can it be set to recur throughout the day if required? As things stand now the Alarm doesn't even wake you up in the morning as an clock would do.

Idiot that I am, I bought the thing confident that if my lowest of lo-tech Samsung cell phones could perform ALL such actions, it was inconceivable that the Galaxy SII would not? ... But I might have guessed, after all, the thing is designed by Androids, and how could they know that the most basic of smartphone applications is for the sophisticated piece of kit to double up as AN ORGANISER!

And posters are SERIOUS across the various threads .... ? YOU (I, in this case) need to download an  A P P.  If I had a sense of humour ... perhaps I'd know how to cope with the enormity! For now, however, I'm just GOB-SMACKED ... and not liking the sensation.

Oh, and by the way: at MediaMart in one of Europe's capitals I recently heard a sales expert concede the sensitivity of hi-tech phones (he himself uses a Galaxy II) was finer ... in other words where a building has thick walls, comparing reception with a lo-tech cell 'phone, there is less chance of picking up a signal with a Galaxy!

Sheesh!
